Stayed two nights in this lovely old hotel. We had a very comfortable second floor four poster bedroom with a wonderful unobstructed view of the magnificent West Front of the Cathedral. There were two comfortable armchairs with a small coffee table at which we could sit and enjoy the view whilst savouring a freshly prepared coffee or Earl Grey tea. The bed was comfy, although I wasn’t mad about the pillows. The hotel was lovely and quiet at night so sleep was undisturbed. For me a big plus was how lovely and warm the hotel was throughout, especially during what was a particularly cold spell. Location was perfect. Maybe it was my personal taste but I didn’t really appreciate the music that was played in the breakfast room in the morning. I felt it was inappropriate and unnecessary. However, all in all, I would highly recommend the hotel. Thank you for a lovely few days.

Fabulous meal here today. Four of us for lunch. A bit of a wait, but well worth it. All full of flavour, rich umptious gravy, generous portions and reasonably priced. Staff efficient and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

We stayed here on the way to visiting some relatives and we loved every second of our stay. The service was amazing, everyone was incredibly helpful and genuinely happy to be there. The food was outstanding, from dinner to breakfast - everything was tasty, cooked to perfection and well presented. The room was perfect and looked exactly as described in the website. We will definitely be coming back, it did not feel a 3* hotel at all.

Really delicious food and excellent service. We were a big table and all the food came at once and we didnt need to wait too long. The food was all really delicious- the mushroom starter and cod in particular. The staff were kind and helped us with a birthday cake even though they were super busy. Really had a lovely time due to the staff and food. Thank you so much.

STAY We really enjoyed our stay at The Swan Wells. Right from our arrival all the staff we interacted with were genuinely helpful, very professional whilst being friendly, and they seemed a happy team. We also appreciated the dog goodies in our room when we arrived - very thoughtful. Breakfast was delicious. Overall great value. Highly recommended hotel.

STAY - Lovely hotel in the centre of Wells. The staff were very friendly, helpful and hardworking - nothing was too much trouble for them and they were happy to store our bikes for us. We booked a 3 night winter escape and stayed in the coach house where we had a nice spacious and comfortable room overlooking the main street. Good breakfast selection and delicious 2 course evening meal which was very well presented and served in a cosy and comfortable dining room. Would definitely recommend. We really enjoyed our stay - thank you!

STAY every single member of staff was so friendly and helpful. They always went that extra mile. Room 64 was warm, clean and well furnished but might have been too much of a stair climb fir some people. Plus being in the eaves meant low ceilings and beams. Public rooms were well appointed and the evening meal we chose (the lamb and tomato pie with fabulous gravy) was out of this world. Wouldn't hesitate to stay or eat here again.

The location was wonderful. All staff we had any interaction with were helpful and pleasant. The room was a good size and clean. The bar was well equipped and the bar area comfortable and designed nice. Entering the car park is quite narrow but we managed to park the car but was a squeeze to get in and out with the metal railing right were the drivers door was opened. The bed and pillows weren't particularly comfortable. Showering in the bath wasn't great and for someone older could be a problem a shower cubicle would be much better. We stayed in room 17 and the windows kept making a noise with the wind. Early wake up call with generators outside along with a banging drain everything someone left the carpets but overall a good stay for one night and would return.

Had a wonderful weekend stay here . The room was beautiful - a twin deluxe and the housekeeping staff were friendly and very efficient . Just be warned that this room is up three flights of quite steep stairs and as I use a stick it was hard going . Otherwise well appointed room - very big with a lovely bathroom . We had breakfast and evening meal each evening . The breakfast was very comprehensive and as well as continental breakfast there was the usual full English plus you could order eggs Benedict porridge etc at no extra charge . The evening menu was very nice and meals were generous and well presented . The head chef Tom was very nice and came to speak to me and explain how I could cook one of his meals myself . All staff were very welcoming and friendly especially Callum the restaurant manager and Cathy the smiling and friendly waitress plus Kyle the barman . All staff went the extra mile and couldn’t be more helpful . All round a very pleasant stay and we would definitely recommend a stay here.

This was a very pretty hotel in the heart of Wells with a great view of the cathedral. Nice food options and spacious rooms, with friendly and attentive staff. Diane was particularly friendly and helpful, as was the young chap behind the bar in the evening. The room came with a couple of additional bonuses that you aren’t always guaranteed, such as a Nespresso coffee machine, smart TV and shampoo/conditioner/body wash (very convenient as I’d forgotten to pack shower gel!). The lock on my door wasn’t great which concerned me as a solo traveller, but I still felt safe as nobody could have got in without a key card anyway. The pillows were a little lumpy and the cleaner missed a couple of hairs in the bath but not the end of the world! My two main niggles were a) the noise at nighttime, and b) the car park. My room was located right next to the whirring generators that kept me awake throughout the night and next to alley/car park where kitchen staff were up and down rattling cages of sorts. In terms of parking - it seemed virtually impossible to park in the hotel car park gone 3.30pm and by 5.30pm basically all of the spaces on the local roads had been taken, so upon returning to the hotel on various occasions I had to circle the roads in the hope of finding a space; eventually I gave up and had to walk from a different car park on the other side of the town, laden with bags in the rain, which wasn’t ideal! So perhaps bear this in mind if you have mobility issues.
